The Case Against Broadcast Hardware

Walk into any live sports production and you'll find racks of dedicated hardware: replay systems, switchers, audio consoles — equipment so expensive that most productions below the top tier simply go without. Our contrarian bet: nearly all of it is software pretending to be hardware.

The browser grew up

The modern browser can decode multiple video streams, process audio with sample accuracy, and render interfaces that respond faster than the hardware panels they imitate. What it lacked was software written with broadcast-grade seriousness — tools built for match-day pressure, not for tech demos.

That's the gap we've been building into. Our replay switcher and its audio companion FADEBOARD run entirely in the browser: multiviewer, clip engine, jog control, transitions, master/slave audio — the workflows a broadcast operator expects, without the truck. One is public; the other stays in stealth a little longer, which tells you how seriously we take it.

Who this unlocks

College tournaments, local leagues, school sports days, community events — productions that could never justify hardware rental can suddenly afford broadcast-grade replay and sound. The interesting market isn't replacing the top tier's trucks. It's serving the enormous tier below them that was never served at all.

Hardware will keep its place at the very top for a while. But the next thousand productions won't buy racks — they'll open tabs.
